1) Do you agree that the existing walking routes shown (solid red line) are currently suitable for walking?

Condition of payments is not always the best. Can be especially difficult after bin day

As above re condition of road surfaces at times

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Please comment:

Seems a lot smaller so as a person who walks over cycles it doesn't make much sense to me and seems to close a lot of the area off from the picture

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

Yes

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Partially

8) Are there any additional schemes you think should be included in the schedule of schemes?

Yes

Parking - if there is less parking in Cathays due to cycle lanes this will have a huge impact on local residents. Cathays needs consideration of infrastructure and parking needs to be included in this

Monthemer Road/Dalton Street is still used as a "rat run" to by pass traffic on Fairoak road in the morning and Cathays Terrace in the evening and drivers regularly do NOT keep to the 20mph + use their mobiles during the morning and evening rush hour

6) Are there additional routes for cycling (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

Because of the high volume of rush hour car traffic along Monthemer Road / Dalton Street due to them being used as a"rat run" A ) Route along Gwennyth Street/ Gower Street joining Crwys road via the new Cycle Modal filter on Daniel Street/Gower Street so that cyclist can more safely access the bike stands via the new Toucan crossing. The road junction at Gower Street/Daniel Street should be prioritised for traffic along Gower Street in the same way as has been done at the Lucas Street / Daniel Street Junction B) Route along Gwenyth Street / Fanny Street as it is a safer route for cyclists due to the existing cycle modal filters on Flora Street, Minny Street and May Street The road junction at Fanny Street Street/Daniel Street should be prioritised for traffic along Fanny Street in the same way as has been done at the Lucas Street / Daniel Street Junction

There are no existing routes

2) Do you agree that the existing cycling routes shown (solid blue line) are currently suitable for cycling?

Not well enough connected to facilitate safe & efficient movement through town. Condition of roads (general surface, pot holes, sunken drains) often unsuitable for anything except mountain bikes with thick tyres. Extreme hostility from drivers. Cycle lanes separated from main roads and coupled with pavements often unusable as occupied by pedestrians and/or full of litter/broken glass/tree branches/leaves and not cleaned regularly.

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Partially

Please comment:

More needed

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

Partially

Please comment:

The two modes of transport shouldn’t be combined. Cycle lanes designed for use in both directions but located on one side of the road force you to suddenly cross two lanes if traffic when coming to an end. Extremely unsafe.

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

All roads need to prioritise pedestrians, cyclists and busses over privately owned cars.

Cycle lanes and walking routes are causing a real inconvenience for shops and businesses who are trying their best to recover from a period of no business during Covid lock downs. It’s extremely unfair to introduce these routes now when parking is already so difficult in suburban shopping streets and so the proposed routes will only drive business away from these streets.

Please comment:

I don’t think Montgomery Road & Dalton street should be part of the route. Dalton street in particular is already narrow and adding a cycle lane would make it very difficult for residents in particular to park. I don’t think Monthermer Road is suitable for lane owing to all the crossroad junctions along it. I suspect it would have an impact on the availability of parking which would be detrimental to both the Church & the businesses on Crwys Road. Crwys Road has just been extensively improved (?) by widening pavements and upgrading junctions, it would be daft to change all of this again l. Surely a cycle lane could have been incorporated whilst this work was being completed rather than completing a new set of works further disrupting businesses along the road. Parking is already difficult in the area & I suspect the provision of a cycle lane along Crwys road would remove the majority of the remaining spaces
