Please comment:

There are no solid red lines on the map.

2) Do you agree that the existing cycling routes shown (solid blue line) are currently suitable for cycling?

No

Please comment:

There are no solid blue lines on the map.

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Partially

Please comment:

The proposed "new" routes seem to be just improvements near schools (a good idea) and a path through linking Danescourt with what's currently an off road path and might in future be a cycle path, that section isn't likely to see much use from walkers, it would be better to improve the path along the edge of Radyr Woods.

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

Partially

Please comment:

I have very mixed feelings about the new cycle paths being created across the city, seemingly at significant expense and, without in my opinion, being well enough thought through. In some ways it would be nice to see more cycle paths BUT, on the other hand, I'm not convinced enough people will use them as intended and question whether the investment in creating and maintaining them is really justified. The reality is a large proportion of people won't ever feel comfortable riding a bike (due to fitness, health conditions, frailty, disability), even more will avoid using a bike during inclement weather conditions. Those that do cycle face the logistical challenge of finding places to secure their bikes when at their destinations (often not easy, nor easily solvable) and carrying anything they need with them whilst riding (also quite tricky). My feeling is they could end up being dangerous e-scooter super highways.

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

The footpath between Llantrisant Road and Fairwater Road should be improved and lighting considered.

6) Are there additional routes for cycling (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

Schools are one of the biggest potential users of cycle paths. Many students, and a fair proportion of staff, will be fit enough to consider using a bike. They often have, or can create, secure bike parking. Staff and students usually have offices / lockers and could have access to changing facilities.

7) Do you agree with the proposals in the schedule of schemes for this ward?

Partially

There's really not enough detail to say. The one I know more about C4.2, and responded to the consultation for, was a huge disappointment. The suggestion that Bridge Street would be suitable for a cycle way is baffling. It's too narrow and doesn't have much parking. Removing spaces would inconvenience residents who already struggle with parking for themselves, essential visitors such as care workers, tradesmen, etc.

8) Are there any additional schemes you think should be included in the schedule of schemes?

Yes

Please comment, including location information:

Paths that provide a helpful "short cut" for walkers (and possibly cyclists) are the sort of thing than can encourage more active travel. E.g. The path between Llantristant Road and Fairwater Road has been poorly maintained but might see more use if improved.

9) Do you have any other comments on the Draft Active Travel Network Map for Cardiff?

If there's going to be so much money spent on cycle paths, much more secure cycle parking will be needed, as well as measures to deter bike theft. E-scooters are starting to become an issue on some existing paths, it's hard to know what can be done about it, the fact that they're technically illegal causes many people little concern. Whilst slightly greener than taking a car they're not "active" travel.

Please comment:

The route alongside the Taff from Western Avenue north is ideal, but will need significant work to make it suitable for shared walking/cycling, especially around the rowing club where it is currently very narrow and overgrown. It will also need to connect in some way with the routes through pontcanna fields, likely by a new crossing across Western Avenue itself?

All long overdue, especially the segregated cycleways which are a must for a switch to active travel.

Yes

2) Do you agree that the existing cycling routes shown (solid blue line) are currently suitable for cycling?

Please comment:

There should not be a cycle route interfering with Llandaff village, going past the cathedral and through a not busy residential road. The original proposal suggested going by the river or through the village not both, so both are kot needed. Additionally it will be a danger to dog walkers, walkers kids and impact residential parking plus not be needed given there is already a cycleroute. Plus disagree with fairweather route cycleroute for same reason

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Yes

Same arguement a cycleroute shouted not be going next to the cathedral

Your ignoring residents

Please comment, including location information:

Yes the schedule to make cycle routes proportionate to the number of people using them and not ignore residents, disabled persons, dog walkers and elderly impacts who cannot ride.

9) Do you have any other comments on the Draft Active Travel Network Map for Cardiff?

Disagree with proportionality of the cycle route plans

There are so few!

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

No

Please comment:

The route from Llandaff to Radyr on the Danescourt side of the river is muddy, rocky and unsuitable for cycling or walking. It is also unlit. There is damage from the floods in 2020 and overgrown with knotweed.

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

There is a path between the river Radyr Court Road and Llandaff Highfields used daily by cyclists/walkers/school children using active transport to get to schools that should be a) included and b) improved. Similarly Bridge street is heavily trafficked and hard to cross and the onus should be away from cars and towards active transport here.
