1) Do you agree that the existing walking routes shown (solid red line) are currently suitable for walking?

No

Please comment:

I cannot see any solid red lines, only broken lines. This makes no sense, as there are plenty of important footpaths in Lisvane ward.

2) Do you agree that the existing cycling routes shown (solid blue line) are currently suitable for cycling?

No

Please comment:

I cannot see any solid red lines, only broken lines. This makes no sense, as there are a number of routes suitable for cyclists which are used currently.

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Partially

Please comment:

It looks to me as if the Council has recognised that there are two places in Lisvane where the lack of pedestrian footpaths beside roads presents a danger: this is commendable. I am concerned that another road whether pedestrian safety is compromised has been omitted: there are two portions of Lisvane Road where the lack of a pedestrian footway forces pedestrians to cross the road, without the protection of a pedestrian crossing, to protect them from motorised traffic. I think attention should be paid to this two places, as a priority.

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

Partially

Please comment:

I would like to see a commitment to separation of cyclists from pedestrians. I think creating shared pathways between pedestrians and cyclists is unsafe for both groups (among my family and friends at least one cyclist and at least one pedestrian has suffered serious injuries on shared pathways in Cardiff)

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

I don't understand why the footpaths within Coed Y Felin Woods, in the countryside in the north of Lisvane ward and, most importantly, the footpaths to the north of the reservoirs, which are so important to the communities of Lisvane and Llanishen, and which connect these communities with those of Cyncoed and Pontprennau, have been omitted.

6) Are there additional routes for cycling (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

No

7) Do you agree with the proposals in the schedule of schemes for this ward?

Partially

Please comment, including the relevant scheme reference number(s) in your comments:

As above, I think there is an important omission from the proposed new walking routes, on Lisvane Road. I am also of the view that there needs to be proper mapping of the existing walking routes, in the first place, before new proposed schemes can be properly considered.

8) Are there any additional schemes you think should be included in the schedule of schemes?

Yes

Please comment, including location information:

see above for my comment on the omission of the danger to pedestrians forced to cross the road, in at least two places on Lisvane Road, due to the lack of pavement.

9) Do you have any other comments on the Draft Active Travel Network Map for Cardiff?

It is a good start. However, I think the omission of the existing, well-used footpaths from the Active Travel Map indicates that the Council has further work to do in order to understand the importance of these paths to the people who already use them in their everyday journeys.

1) Do you agree that the existing walking routes shown (solid red line) are currently suitable for walking?

Partially

Please comment:

The only walking route I can identify is the road over Caerphilly Mountain. I have walked along this road and it does have a pavement but it is not very attractive with the motor traffic.

2) Do you agree that the existing cycling routes shown (solid blue line) are currently suitable for cycling?

No

Please comment:

What solid blue lines?

3) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking (dashed red line)?

Yes

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

Partially

Please comment:

I think that specifying Lisvane Rd as a walking and cycling route is excellent, but if you aregoing to allow motor traffic as well this would be a major challenge.

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

Why not show existing footpaths on your map? For example the FP from Heol y Delyn down to the Chartwell Dr complex?

9) Do you have any other comments on the Draft Active Travel Network Map for Cardiff?

Not at the moment.

This will damage habitats and wildlife which are enjoyed by many residents in the area. There can be alternative cycle routes installed which won’t harm the wildlife such as cycle lanes on the roads.

5) Are there additional routes for walking (existing or proposed) that you think should be shown on the map?

Yes

If yes, please provide details below:

Keep the walking routes through the fields from Nantfawr woods up to Lisvane. Beautiful areas for walking that should be kept from being destroyed by cycle lanes and houses.

On the main roads.

There is adequate walking routes in the areas. Old Mill Road for example is the obvious route instead of Mill Road

Only from Coed Y Dafran to the Church Road. Everywhere else is perfectly adequate.

4) Do you agree with the proposed new routes for walking and cycling (dashed blue line)?

walking & cycling should be kept separate, walking especially with a dog does not mix happily with people cycling
