The whole cycle lane network is a flawed policy. C2 and DLC30You are narrowing the road network for the less than 0.1%of Cardiff people who cycle to the detriment of the rest of the population who need to travel by other means. You have moved the bus lanes so that less able people need to cross the cycle lane and have no signs to alert motorists of cyclists direction. Some cycle lanes are obscured by bus stops as at Windsor place. Cyclists are frequently seen riding along Queen street where the traffic managers stand and they do nothing. You must be losing a lot of money as residents are now unable to park near their homes and therefore do not pay for a permit. As you are using 30% of road space surely a rebate on the road tax is due. The increase in pollution due to standing traffic must have increased exponentially. Emergency vehicles have great difficulty in getting access to scenes. The very few cyclists I have seen using the lanes will usually take the shortest route and not bother to use the lane e.g. Deliveroo riders. I believe that the money would be far better spent on the urgent services and that cycle lanes are a total waste of our precious money. Wellfield road is an example. For 45minutes not one cyclist used the cycle lane yet the traffic was at a standstill with increased exhaust fumes.

There should be a proposed route through the new housing development on Newport Road, where the school used to be. There were plans to connect Newport Road with Caer Castle Place, and provisions were provided in the planning application.

8) Are there any additional schemes you think should be included in the schedule of schemes?

There should be a scheme to link Newport Road with Caer Castle Place, next to the existing schools, but where a housing development is being built on the old site of Eastern School, there were provisions in the planning application to keep the link open

I agree they are suitable, but as a resident, they are not the routes that I would take as there are more pleasant options with less traffic.

I would avoid Wentloog Road when walking to the shops on Newport Road and instead walk up Whitehall Parade from Church Road. If walking for pleasure I'd add in Uplands Road above the Quarry, as you get a good view, plus a loop round the Tredelerch lake. In terms of routes to schools there is a footpath from Trelawney Avenue through to Barmouth Road, giving access from that side, similarly, there is another footpath between Church Road and Wentloog Road which comes out by the crossing opposite Rumney Primary School

There's not really much new, these are all routes which are currently in use.

8) Are there any additional schemes you think should be included in the schedule of schemes?

Yes

Please comment, including location information:

The footpath / cycle route on New Road fields, which is on the map gets quite boggy in wet weather, as does the path around Tredelerch lake, it would be fantastic to see some improvements made here.
